Welcome to Ymir & the Central Kootenays, 20 km Sth of Nelson
Nestled into 42 private acres of pristine unspoiled forest land in the Selkirk Mountain Range, Logden Lodge is located in the small mountain community of Ymir.
The quaint historic mining town of Ymir is just off highway 6 in between Salmo and Nelson. Driving from both ways, an official blue sign will show you where to turn off the highway onto our street, Porto Rico-Ymir Road. You’ll find our handcrafted road sign at the bottom of our driveway. Driving from Nelson, please be aware there is a Porto Rico Road on your right before the blue sign, which is not our road.
The closest airports are in Castlegar (West Kootenay Regional Airport, YCG), with daily flights to/from Calgary and Vancouver, and in Trail (Trail Regional Airport, YZZ), with twice daily flights to/from Vancouver.
In Winter we do not advice to fly into Trail and Castlegar airport, as both are small regional airports and, especially during this season, very sensitive to delays or cancellations due to the weather.
- We advice Spokane Airport, USA, (Spokane International Airport, GEG) as your best and most reliable option. It is approx. 3 hours drive from our Lodge, as we are just a 40 min. (45 km) drive away from the Canadian-USA Nelway border crossing (open 8am to 12am). The border crossing near Rossland, Paterson, (1 hr and 10 min.) is open 24 hrs in case you arrive during the night.
- Kelowna Airport (Kelowna International Airport, YLW) is another option, at approx. 4 1/2 hours drive with flights to/from 6 cities in Canada and flights to/from Seattle, USA.
Please check the website of these airports for rental car availability.
